The scope of responsibilities of the GMIO is as follows:
Outline of Duties & Responsibilities:
Collect Economic Data in all countries of our operations. This includes, but is not limited to, the DRC, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe
Gather data on the main logistics corridors in our area of operations. This includes, but is not limited to, the Beira, the Dar Es Salaam, the Durban, Richards Bay, Nacala, and Walvis Bay Corridor
Gather data on commodity flows and market trends by studying industry journals, market reports, economic reports, and consulting with internal contacts
Provide information on inland pricing levels considering end-to-end logistics needs, i.e. consider ocean freight, port costs, trucking rates, rail rates, etc. in overall cost calculations
Establish volumes (multi-modal) and market shares (including commodity splits) in our area of operations
Gather information on our major clients and commodities
Maintain Group rates information and a comparative, up to date market rate database
Supply the commercial team with relevant reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and or ad-hoc basis
Supply the Group CEO (and Board of Directors) with reports upon request
Assist top management in strategic investment decisions
Visit suppliers and build relationships
Perform other tasks as may be required by the Group Commercial Manager
Pro-active style with attention to detail and ability to work in a dynamic work environment
Excellent analytical skills and aptitude for problem solving, data analysis and reporting
Hard worker, with high levels of energy and self-motivation
Good understanding of transport, logistics, and the business strategy
Results orientated with delivery capabilities and good time management skills
Able to maintain and secure confidentiality of data and use sound discretion in information flows
Open to continuing self-development to promote role-effectiveness and performance
Good judgment and demonstrating ethical and moral behaviour, and compliance with legislation and corporate governance principles
2 years of experience in the Transport and/or Logistics Industry in Sub Saharan Africa is a plus
Good understanding of the Business and Business Needs
IT knowledge: High Computer Literacy of MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and analytics tools (advanced Excel modelling)
Excellent MS Office skills
