Our Client is looking for a Production Supervisor to join a larger FMCG company in Cape Town, Epping.


Implement and supervise the company manufacturing process
Supervise work group to produce company products
Supervise the implementation of Quality Assurance requirements
Staff Management requirements
KPA 1 : Implement and supervise the company manufacturing process
Implement and supervise the company manufacturing process to achieve production objectives and targets
Plan work activities and set team goals through the management structure
Ensure all resources i.e. raw materials etc. are in place to meet production schedule
Allocate job assignments as to scheduling, resource availability, cycle time and customer requirements
Supervise and assist where appropriate with setting and changing of factory machinery to meet production and quality requirements
Supervise workflow with team members to ensure maximum productivity and to minimise downtime
Review process and product specifications and make appropriate adjustments as necessary
Ensure that production output for the shift is achieved as planned within the shortest possible lead time as to quality specifications
Ensure that production data is accurately recorded on shift i.e. production output, sample testing, waste, downtime by reason
Report on progress and achievement of production objectives and targets i.e. output vs planned
Assist with ensuring that machinery is maintained and repaired with minimum disruption to production schedule
Print identification labels and barcodes for company product range
KPA 2 : Supervise work group to produce company products
Implement and supervise productivity through the management structure
Supervise quality and scheduling requirements based on specific, measurable and attainable team goals
Allocate job assignments to maximise the use of available skills and productivity
Wastage is kept to a minimum and disposed of in line with standard operating procedures
Ensure work practices adhere to health and safety requlations
Ensure that good housekeeping (hygiene & sanitation) standards are maintained
Manage staff timekeeping, absenteeism and disciplinary matters by implementing progressive disciplinary system as required
Pro-actively identify potential machine pro problems / issues and grievances, counseling employees as and when required
Assist with identifying and implementing training interventions of factory personnel in accordance with operational requirements
Record all activities in accordance with ruling procedure and report on progress regularly
KPA 3 : Supervise the implementation of Quality Assurance requirements
Ensure that work instructions are implemented as required
Inspect product-in-process against quality specifications Root causes of product non-conformances and/or process malfunctions and problems are pro-actively identified and resolved on shift
Supervise sampling requirements and quality deviations on shift
Training needs are identified to enhance quality awareness
KPA 4 : Staff Management requirements
. Compliance to organisational policies and procedures - Health & Safety, Quality etc.
Good timekeeping and attendance record
Teamwork – Good working relationships and active participation in meetings and problem-solving
Effective communication with others
Identify and communicate training needs of departmental staff
Manage unforeseen situations to ensure that department functions effectively

Qualifications
Diploma in Production / Operations Management and relevant work experience
Basic computer skills in MS Office
Knowledge of manufacturing practices and related policies, procedures and regulations
Knowledge of quality concepts, policies, procedures and auditing requirements (ISO)
Knowledge of machinery specifications, capacity and common causes of equipment failure
Knowledge of and compliance with applicable statutory requirements (BCEA / OHSA)
