Counsel students referred by teachers, parents, or self referrals.
Counseling sessions are confidential with the legal exceptions of cases involving harm to oneself or others. The Counselor will apprise the Principal of situations warranting concern
Guides individuals and groups of students through the development of educational, personal and social plans.
Counsels individuals and small groups of children toward social and emotional growth. Formulates, publishes and maintains an individualized high-risk student intervention plan including a procedure for student referrals.
Maintains documentation for all students at risk and initiates meetings with teachers and parents for all students identified as being at risk.
Provides the ES Principal with appropriate reports regarding students at risk.
Responds to all sorts of crises, from deaths of parents to playground conflicts. The Counselor will work with the different affected parties, alone and in groups, to seek resolution.
Identifies and establishes contact with appropriate referral services within the Harare community, including a list of appropriate professional services available; maintains, for parent use, a list of individuals available to tutor students, and interviews tutors when possible or receives recommendations from faculty members regarding possible tutors.
In cooperation with the teachers and parents of identified students, develops referrals to qualified external professionals providing services and support not offered by the school
Plans and evaluates the counseling program. Pursues continuous professional growth.
All other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services, ES Principal or the Director.
Good communication skills
Providing appropriate instructions to the students that will help them to attain competency in the French language as per their grade level
Responsible for giving correct directions to the students so as to make them proficient in writing, verbalising, interpreting, and reading the French language
Verbal organisation of the examinations and class tests that are conducted for the students
The teacher will teach recorder and piano and general music lessons to the junior school children.
