Duties to include:
Develop and implement policies: ensure policies and procedures are in place and enforced.
Inspections: inspect the workplace for potential hazards, identify potential hazards, assess the risks and report potential hazards.
Conduct drills: conduct drills, such as fire drills, to ensure equipment is properly functioning and staff are aware of what to do in an emergency.
Conduct investigations: respond to and investigate accidents and emergencies.
Ensure compliance: ensure the organization is compliant with legislative and regulatory requirements, conduct training with staff to make sure they are aware of regulations and procedures and provide guidance.
Administrative tasks: keep records of daily activities, monitor workers' compensation program and maintain reference materials.

Qualifications
Degree in Health and Safety<br> min of 5 years experience in a similar industry e.g steel, metal or coal manufacture<br>
Key Skills
In addition to education and a little previous experience, there are a number of skills needed to be a health and safety officer.
Ability to prepare plans, reports and budgets
Basic computer skills
Ability to solve problems
Capability of carrying equipment and the physical endurance to perform emergency responses.
Must be a hands on person
Must be willing to relocate to Zambia or already be based there
