Develop the annual plant maintenance system including the quality control plan, priorities, schedules, resource allocation and budgets with the aim of meeting production and plant performance targets.
Align the annual plan with the regional maintenance strategy.
Apply standard project management and process standards for capital projects and ensure sound change management practices are utilised for all changes to the plant.
Manage agreed-to targets and objectives and the performance of the engineering team in line with scorecards covering Quality, Cost, Delivery, Environment, People and Safety (QCDEPS).

Review and approve test plans with the focus on integration points between different areas of the plant.
Manage third party contractors
Participate in contract negotiations for all major engineering contracts.
Determine when engineering services should be conducted internally or be outsourced.
Review the quality of work, contract compliance and financial processes for engineering contractors for normal work and during shuts.
Ensure that all contractors are aware of safety requirements.
Create a safe work environment for the engineering function ensuring that all risks are assessed and mitigation of risks are correctly managed.
Monitor adherence to regulatory and internal standards.
Review control measures frequently and oversee plans to address any discrepancies.
Ensure compliance to ISO standards for the Engineering Department.
Entrench a culture of people taking personal responsibility for their own and their colleagues' safety.
Provide guidance to the managers in the engineering function on how to effectively manage their teams. Direct the recruitment, recognition, remuneration, development and discipline of the engineering teams.
Accept direct responsibility for the development of direct reports.
Conduct manpower demand planning for current and future requirements and determine the need to create additional skills pools as and when is required
Direct the effective development of new engineers and technicians in training by selecting the new trainees and monitoring the effectiveness of the Training & Development and Mentoring support they receive
Develop and execute the company’s business strategies in order to attain the goals of the board and shareholders
Provide strategic advice to the board and Chairperson so that they will have accurate view of the market and the company’s future
Prepare and implement comprehensive business plans to facilitate achievement by planning cost-effective operations and market development activities
Ensure company policies and legal guidelines are communicated all the way from the top down in the company and that they are followed at all times
Communicate and maintain trust relationships with shareholders, business partners and authorities
Oversee the company’s financial performance, investments and other business ventures
Delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of executives providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance
Read all submitted reports by lower rank managers to reward performance, prevent issues and resolve problems

Duties to include:
Directs and coordinates worker activities, such as planting, irrigation, chemical application, harvesting, grading, payroll, and record keeping
Coordinates growing activities with those of engineering, equipment maintenance, packing houses, and other related departments
Analyzes market conditions to determine acreage allocations
Confers with purchasers and arranges for sale of crops
Records information, such as production, farm management practices, and parent stock, and prepares financial and operational reports
Determines procedural changes in drying, grading, storage, and shipment for greater efficiency and accuracy
Experience with Tobacco, tomatoes or any hydroponic crops would be ideal
